Capacity, Strategies, and Metamemory: Tests of a Three-Factor Model of Memory Development.
DeMarie, Darlene; Ferron, John
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v84 n3 p167-93 Mar 2003
This study obtained multiple measures of three factors (capacity, strategies, and metamemory) hypothesized to cause memory improvement with age among younger (ages 5 to 8) to older (ages 8 to 11) children. Results suggested that fit of the 3-factor model was statistically significantly better than a 1-factor, general memory model for both age groups. Fit indices were borderline; there was not sufficient evidence for a metamemory factor for younger children. (Author/KB)
