Printing Ancient Terracotta Warriors
Gadecki, Victoria L.
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v109 n9 p26-27 May-Jun 2010
Standing in awe in Xian, China, at the Terra Cotta warrior archaeological site, the author thought of sharing this experience and excitement with her sixth-grade students. She decided to let her students carve patterns of the ancient soldiers to understand their place in Chinese history. They would make block prints and print multiple soldiers on one huge class scroll to imagine a complete Qin army standing at attention and ready to defend and fight. In this article, the author shares how she and her class made foam prints of the soldiers and created a large warrior scroll as part of this art project.(Contains 1 online resource.)
