Connellys' Classroom Cutaway: A Taste of Animation--Part 2
Connelly, John; Connelly, Marilyn
TechTrends: Linking Research and Practice to Improve Learning, v52 n4 p15-17 Jul 2008
In Part 1 ("TechTrends" 52.3), the authors described some of the easier kinds of animation such as Claymation, Pixillation, Cut Outs, People Pix, and FlipBook. Of these, FlipBook has the easiest learning curve. Now, in Part 2, they detail their first simple lesson in animation by describing how an entire classroom of students can create a group Flipbook. The authors are not covering the more advanced forms of animation like Cell Animation, Computer Animation, or 3-D Computer Animation because they require a much larger investment of time and talent. Although this group FlipBook project may be a humble version of animation, students can learn some very basic concepts of animation. (Contains 3 figures.) [For Part 1, see EJ803588.]
