Mayer, Alisha Rasmussen; Francis, Jenifer; Harrison, J. Buckley; McPhillen, Ammon S.; West, Richard E.
Educational Technology, v52 n5 p34-38 Sep-Oct 2012
This article is an analysis of "Performance Improvement Quarterly" (PIQ) for the years 2001-2010. The intent was to examine the article types used, the authors who contributed the most to the journal, the topics the journal most commonly focused on, and the citation frequency of the journal's articles. The analysis revealed that conceptual/theoretical articles were the most prolific, with an intentional increase of inferential articles published, resulting in a more balanced representation of inferential and interpretive works by the decade's end. The top-cited articles focused on organizational development and design, whereas the topical analysis showed that most articles published dealt with higher education and adult education. There were substantial increases in articles published on organizational development, intervention, and higher education, while work environment as a topic declined in popularity near the end of the decade.
