American History Activators (Early American History).
Lacey, Bill
This document consists of a package of seven separately published "activities" or simulations that allow students to learn about and participate in many of the aspects of United States history that have influenced our present institutions and way of life. The seven units include: (1) First Americans Arrive: 11.000 BC; (2) Puritan General Court, 1650; (3) Middle Passage, 1753; (4) Mountain Man Rendezvous, 1837; (5) Slave Auction, 1854; (6) Cattle Drive, 1870s; and (7) Rough Rider Interviews, 1898. Each section involves completion of tasks related to the topic. Students compete against each other in teams while making decisions about how they will execute the choices they have made in their exploration of this aspect of United States history. Suggestions are included for modifying the unit for shorter periods of time. (EH)
