An attempt at compiling information on Chicanos in the United States who are involved in academic and research activities, the directory lists alphabetically over 300 responses, 600 names, 25 states, 2 countries, 87 four-year institutions, and 43 two-year institutions. Organized by states and institutions, it gives the respondents' academic background, publications, current and projected teaching and research interests and activities. Data were obtained through questionnaires mailed, along with a letter explaining the project, to Chicano faculty members throughout the U.S. and all four-year institution heads in 35 states, requesting names of all their Spanish surname faculty and of persons who might not have received a questionnaire. An index of the names included in the directory and the discipline in which they are classified is provided. This index also includes a notation after the names as to whether a response is included in the directory. Survey questionnaires and letters sent to institution heads and the respondents are appended. (NQ)
