Validity and Reliability Studies on the Scale of the Reasons for Academic Procrastination
Yesil, Rustu
Education, v133 n2 p259-274 Win 2012
The objective of this study is to develop a scale in order to determine the reasons why students delay academic tasks and the levels that they are affected from these reasons. The study group was composed of a total of 447 students from the faculty of education. The KMO value of this scale composed of 43 items collected under six factors was determined as 0.843; and Bartlett Test values were determined as x2=5503.518; sd=943; p less than 0.001. The validity analyses of the scale were tested with factor analysis and item-total correlation. And the reliability analyses of the scale were determined by calculating the internal consistency and stability coefficients. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was calculated as 0.90. The scale enables stable measurement. In conclusion, it can be said that the Scale of the Reasons of Academic Procrastination (SRAP) is a valid and reliable scale that can be used to determine the reasons for delaying academic tasks.
