This manual is designed for use by law enforcement agencies during the conduct of training in connection with the Uniform Alcoholism and Intoxication Treatment Act. The suggested training program comprises six hours of instruction address, in addition to a short introduction to the overall course. The major topical areas are: (1) Course Outline; (2) The Nature of Alcohol and Alcoholism; (3) Decriminalization and the Uniform Act; (4) The Police and the Treatment Program; (5) The Police Role; (6) Implementation Planning and Training Considerations; and (7) Considerations Concerning the Handling of Intoxicated or Incapacitated Persons.
