This paper presents the results of a study that was conducted to determine the effects of court ordered desegregation on student attendance and mobility. The study documented and isolated the attendance and mobility patterns of Title I children, with similar attention given to the attendance and mobility patterns on non-Title I children and schools. The data presented consist of information regarding attendance, transfers, drops, and withdrawals of K-6 students. Tables show attendance and mobility patterns of students by grade, sex, ethnicity, school, and geographic region. These patterns are compared with data from previous years. The report concludes that the desegregation effort led to increased withdrawals, transfers, and lower attendance than would have been expected when compared to control schools not affected by the court order.
