Rare and Powerful Visual--Spatial Talent: An Interview with Temple Grandin

Dr. Temple Grandin is a professor of animal sciences at Colorado State University where she conducts research and teaches courses on livestock handling and facility design. She is also a past member of the board of directors of the Autism Society of America. She lectures to parents and teachers throughout the United States on her experiences with autism. In this interview, Dr. Grandin describes her observations of autistic people as extreme visual pattern thinkers. She describes two types of visual thinking: photorealistic visual thinking and visual-spatial thinking. Finally, she gives advice to parents about helping their children on the spectrum to connect with other people.
