This report presents results of a project to provide useful information for planning pregnancy prevention programs. It focuses on five project objectives: (1) identification of factors associated with adolescent sexual behavior, contraceptive behavior, and pregnancy; (2) development of instructional objectives or skills associated with pregnancy prevention; (3) development and validation of the Needs Assessment Inventory for Teenage Pregnancy Prevention, a survey measuring approval of instructional objectives or skills for inclusion in an educational program for adolescents aged 13-15; (4) determination of approval for each skill cited in the instrument; and (5) determination of reaction to basic themes included in the inventory. Chapter 1 is an introduction. Chapter 2 concerns the research methodology, including the literature review for development of a data base and construction, pilot testing, and validation of the survey. Chapter 3 deals with findings and analysis. It discusses assessment of content validity and instrument reliability as well as determination of approval scores (objective 4) and of approval scores by subtests and groups (objective 5). Data tables are provided. The final chapter summarizes conclusions and recommendations. Appendixes, amounting to over two-thirds of the report, include the literature review, documentation of content validity for items, final survey instrument, and bibliography. (YLB)
