ExpandED Options: Learning beyond High School Walls
ExpandED Schools
Through ExpandED Options by TASC, New York City high school students get academic credit for learning career-related skills that lead to paid summer jobs. Too many high school students--including those most likely to drop out--are bored or see classroom learning as irrelevant. ExpandED Options students live the connection between mastering new knowledge and earning a paycheck. After school and on weekends, students (age 16 and over) apprentice during the spring semester with sports, cultural and science organizations that teach skills such as how to lead engineering activities. With teacher oversight, students earn an academic credit for real-world, out-of-school learning. This document briefly describes the ExpandED Options program and provides a list of the program's partners.
