This report presents descriptive information on numerically controlled operational devises. The information is designed for the education and training community, manufacturers, supervisors, machine operators, and others who do not have an extensive technical background in numerical control. In the first of three chapters, numerical control background information and definitions are provided. Numerical control is defined as a system in which numerical data is inserted into a machine to control or direct the operations of the machine. In chapter 2, the use and description of numerically controlled drafting machines and plotting machines are discussed. Over fifteen types of production equipment and two types of inspection/testing machines are described. Representative machine examples are discussed, and twenty-six pictures of various production and inspection/testing machines accompany the text. Chapter 3 summarizes the report's contents.
