Passive Responses Resembling Action Potentials: A Device for the Classroom
Newman, Ian A.; Pickard, Barbara G.
BioScience, 25, 8, 502-503, Aug 75
Describes the construction and operation of a network of entirely passive electrical components that gives a response to an electrical shock similar to an action potential. The network of resistors, capacitors, and diodes was developed to produce responses that would mimic those observed, for example, when a dark-grown pea epicotyl is shocked through a contact on the plant surface.
