Herrera, Charmaine M.
ProQuest LLC, D.Ed. Dissertation, University of Delaware
Professional Learning Communties (PLCs) school reform movement that is grounded in decades of research. The purpose of this research was to investigate whether or not a PLC would help in cultivating a culture of learning and collaboration at a small charter school in Delaware. The research involved interviews of teachers, administrators and a data coach and observations of a PLC in action. The findings involved three major themes: Prescription vs. Description, Supportive Conditions and Transformation. Based on the findings, a recommendation was made to establish a PLC at CCS using a three-pronged approach involving laying a foundation, familiarization and formation.
