Problem-Solving Skills for Office Supervisors.
Hathaway, Sandy
This package contains a selection of exercises designed to facilitate learning of problem-solving/communication skills within the area of office supervision. It does not provide the learning material or lesson plans. Section 1 is an overview that explains the scope of the material, learning methods, use of the teaching package, teaching resources, and student assessment, including assessment criteria and performance standards. Section 2 contains all information for the exercises, which are divided into six groups. Each group of exercises is preceded by a statement of the learning outcomes for that group, which are all based on a common theme: (1) preparing and conducting meetings, (2) conducting interviews, (3) negotiating and dealing with conflict, (4) work planning, (5) presenting information, and (6) discussing issues related to people in the workplace in small groups. The first three groups each contain three exercises, the next two contain two exercises, and the final group has one exercise. The information for each exercise consists of the exercise or task; teacher's instructions for administration of the exercise; questions for discussion; time allowed for (each part of) the exercise; model answer; and assessment criteria and performance standards. Section 3 contains the exercises presented separately, with instructions, in a format suitable for reproduction for student use. A self-assessment/peer assessment form is also provided. (YLB)
