The increasing interest in swimming instruction and recreation for elementary and secondary school children has resulted in the development of this guide for swimming pool use, design, and construction. Introductory material discussed the need for swimming in the educational program and the organization of swimming programs in the school. Design specifications include--(1) pool location, (2) indoor-outdoor pools, (3) pool shape and dimensions, (4) pool details and equipment, (5) supporting equipment and facilities, and (6) caring for swimming pools. The discussion stresses comparison of alternative solutions, and health and safety considerations. Photographs and diagrams supplement test material.
