Graduate Medical Education in the European Region. First Supplementary Report 1978.
World Health Organization, Copenhagen (Denmark). Regional Office for Europe.
Data on graduate medical education in Europe are tabulated in this report from the World Health Organization. The information was collected from a short questionnaire distributed in 1976 to countries of the European region using the English language, and in 1977 to those countries using French and Russian. The countries surveyed include: Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechoslavakia, Denmark, Finland, France, German Democratic Republic, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, U.S.S.R., United Kingdom, and Yugoslavia. The type of training required for 25 medical specialty fields is extensively tabulated by country and by field. The tables also indicate the total number of years of graduate training required for a specialty, the number of years that must be spent in the specialty itself, and the length of time required for other subjects.
