Psychological Aspects of Genetic Counselling: A Review of the Experience with Huntington's Disease.
ten Kroode, Herman F. J.; van't Spijker, Adriaan
Patient Education and Counseling, v32 n1,2 p33-40 Sep-Oct 1997
Psychological consequences of presymptomatic DNA-testing for Huntington's disease are reviewed. Both carriers and noncarriers experience emotional reactions after disclosure of their test results; however, no long-term adverse emotional consequences have been revealed. Consequences for the family are discussed. Future research should include children and persons of decreased risk. (Author/EMK)
