The focus of this descriptive study was on the perceptions of participants in a program for Training Minority-Group School Administrators at the Superintendent Level (STP). The purpose of the study was to identify those administrative skills that program participants perceived to have developed; to identify some opinions of the value of the STP and its components; and to make recommendations for further use of the internship as a means of improving the preparation of minority-group school administrators for positions of increased responsibility. The data were collected by use of a 76-item questionnaire. The results of the study show participants strongly support the internship concept. The skills developed and benefits derived from the STP would tend to justify its expanded use in the training of minority administrators for a wide range of top level administrative and leadership positions in school systems. The study reports that a cadre of 65 minority-group administrators located throughout the United States has been trained for upward mobility to positions of increased responsibility in school systems.
