Korean Adolescents'"Examination Hell" and Their Use of Free Time.
Lee, Meery
New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development, n99 p9-21 Spr 2003
Examined role of examination stress in daily lives of Korean adolescents and its effect on their use of free time. Found that adolescents spent large amounts of time doing schoolwork, time experienced as quite taxing. Free-time activities were primarily passive, oriented toward recuperation from stress. Adolescents' most positive states were reported when engaged in active leisure. Greater participation in active leisure related to lower levels of depression and aggression. (KB)
