This article describes how a rural community in Colorado developed the infrastructure to provide a family-centered, culturally competent array of early childhood mental health services that are integrated into existing community-based programs. The Early Childhood Health/Education Outreach (ECHO) and Family Center Early Childhood Council's Early Childhood Network operate across agencies, programs, and disciplines to ensure a full range of mental health services, including promotion, prevention, and treatment. Even with limited resources, communities can use existing programs to meet the social and emotional needs of young children and families. The keys to success are community collaboration, links to university personnel for training, reflective support, direct home-based services, and consultation for early childhood community service providers.
