Recognizing Family Dynamics in the Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Sperry, Len
Family Journal: Counseling and Therapy for Couples and Families, v20 n1 p79-85 Jan 2012
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is an increasingly common chronic medical condition that affects not only patients but also their families. Because family dynamics, particularly the family life cycle, can and does influence the disease process, those providing counseling to CFS patients and their families would do well to recognize these dynamics. CFS as a disease process is experienced differently throughout the family cycle. This process is described and illustrated with case material.
