This module is designed to assist instructors of prospective health services assistants to facilitate learning in health careers other than nursing. It may be used to provide classroom instruction, assist staff in providing on-the-job instruction, or provide selected units for independent study. The module is divided into seven units comprised of one to six lessons. Each lesson contains the following components: scope of unit, lesson objectives, information assignment (student), references, introduction to lesson, outline (content of lesson), summary and conclusion, interaction items (to stimulate and encourage student participation), classroom/laboratory activities, evaluation items (a written evaluation or skills demonstration), and transparency masters and handouts as needed. Unit titles are history of dentistry and overview, infection control, basic anatomy of the oral cavity, basic office procedures, operative equipment and procedures, radiology, and laboratory procedures. Other contents include a bibliography and a listing of learning objectives. (YLB)
