An Overview of Sexual Harassment
Stier, William F., Jr.
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v18 n4 p13-15 Mar-Apr 2005
Sexual harassment, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), is when any unwelcome sexual advances for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature takes place. For sexual harassment to take place there must be some type of behavior, language, or material of a sexual nature, which is offensive. Here, the author presents a partial list of activities and behaviors that may be considered sexual harassment. Among other things, the author presents a number of steps that school authorities should take to avoid the quagmire surrounding sexual harassment. Also, the author presents a number of steps that victims of sexual harassment will find helpful.
