Physics Teacher, v51 n9 p548 Dec 2013
Enrollments in physics courses at two-year colleges About 176,000 students were enrolled in various physics courses on two-year college (TYC) campuses during the 2011-12 academic year. This represents a 60% increase in enrollments since the 1995-96 academic year. Enrollments in conceptual physics courses more than doubled during this period, going from 19,000 in 1995-96 to 41,000 in 2011-12. Enrollments in algebra/trig-based physics courses represented the largest block of students in both periods, accounting for more than one-third of the TYC physics students in 1995-96 and almost half in 2011-12. Enrollments in other types of physics courses declined from 24,000 in 1995-96 to 16,000 in 2011-12.
