Weather Fundamentals: Clouds. [Videotape].
The videos in this educational series, for grades 4-7, help students understand the science behind weather phenomena through dramatic live-action footage, vivid animated graphics, detailed weather maps, and hands-on experiments. This episode (23 minutes) discusses how clouds form, the different types of clouds, and the important role they play in weather and the water cycle. Doppler radar and storm footage are used to show how meteorologists analyze the shape, size, color, and location of clouds to determine a weather forecast. An experiment for creating a cloud in a jar is described. "Cloud seeding" is also discussed. The program includes a Teacher's Guide featuring additional information, vocabulary words, discussion questions, follow-up activities, and lists of suggested books and Internet resources. (WRM)
