Strenthening the Connection between Campus and Business.

The benefits of campus-business cooperation to undergraduate education is considered. Descriptions of programs at 11 colleges are provided, along with an essay by Ernest A. Lynton on the role of liberal arts in career preparation and employee education. In addition to briefly describing liberal arts courses focusing on business, the following programs/activities are discussed: Albion Colleges's Liberal Arts Program in Professional Management; Concordia College at Moorhead's international business program; Gallaudet College's efforts to educate employers and co-workers about hearing-impaired students; University of Houston, Clear Lake's involvement in economic development with regional corporate/industrial and government sectors; Loretto Heights College's Program in Business; University of Louisville's emphasis on the value of a liberal education through its College-Business Cooperative Program; University of Missouri, Columbia's programs that stress ties between agriculture and business; University of New Hampshire's continuing education programs that respond to state needs; University of Puget Sound's Business Leadership Program, Scripps College's Corporate Training for Liberal Arts Women; and Towson State University's efforts to solve business problems with mathematical models.
