Learning English, Learning Science
Nelson, Virginia
Science and Children, v48 n3 p48-51 Nov 2010
Using science notebooks effectively in the classroom can encourage students who are learning English to keep up and keep interested. English language proficiency might head the list of content areas that schools can teach properly and effectively through science. Amaral, Garrison, and Klentschy (2002) reported that a successful inquiry-based science project used science notebooks to enhance science content and processing while developing English language competence. This article describes how science notebooks can help English language learners with two subjects. (Contains 3 figures.)
