Where Are We Headed with Center Accreditation? Trends in Quality Assurance
Neugebauer, Roger
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n186 p14-17 Mar-Apr 2009
With a new administration in Washington, DC poised to expand federal support for early childhood services, it is important that those in the early childhood education profession take a close look at how they can assure parents that they are providing the high quality early childhood services the parents need and deserve. In this article, the author examines the role of center accreditation in providing this assurance. The author provides a brief history of quality assurance in the United States, looks back at historical developments, reviews where early childhood education now stands, and looks ahead at what the future holds.
