Energy--Structure--Life. A Learning System for Understanding Science, Book Two.
Bixby, Louis W.; And Others
This learning guide contains materials for the second year of Energy/Structure/ Life, a two year high school program in integrated science. The guide is programed to permit the student to proceed on his own at a self-determined pace. The two year course is a sequence of physics, chemistry, and biology with the chemical (continued from the first year) and the biological portions being considered the second year in these 10 chapters: (1) intermolecular forces/proton transfer/ electron transfer; (2) equilibrium/entropy/energetics; (3) mechanisms/ cycles/living systems; (6) energy exchange/material exchange/cell structure; (7) reproduction/DNA/regulation; (8) cybernetics/differentiation/development; (9) diversity/speciation/change; and (10) photoreactions/energy/ life. The approach is quantitative, involving many questions and problems in the programed sequence which are answered in a separate notebook. Laboratory activities are not contained in the studeht guide, but are in a separate manual. Further information about this two year program may be found in SE 013 547 and 013 548. (PR)
