"The Student Personnel Point of View" as a Catalyst for Dialogue: 75 Years and beyond
Roberts, Dennis C.
Journal of College Student Development, v53 n1 p2-18 Jan-Feb 2012
"The Student Personnel Point of View" (American Council on Education, 1937) has been a catalyst for dialogue on the purposes of student personnel and student affairs work for 75 years. Through analysis of the writings of Esther Lloyd-Jones and E. G. Williamson, two of the most prolific scholars of the early years of student personnel work, the author draws attention to the agreements and creative tensions that could provide a foundation for enhancing student learning across the globe in the 21st century. These reflections are intended to urge the reader's consideration of the role student affairs plays and contribute to the ongoing dialog. (Contains 1 table.)
