This report studies and classifies, according to distinct user-oriented features, the various computer-aided systems developed for storage and retrieval of information in a wide range of fields. Such features are described and evaluated to determine the nature of characteristics that have a strong bearing on the relative success of various query methods that can be employed in information retrieval from the memory banks of modern computers.
