Learning: How the Brain Acquires Information.
Miller, Beth R.
Eight units of instruction and four projects comprise a curriculum on the brain and information processing for fourth grade students. Units, which frequently involve a guest speaker, focus on intelligence and creativity, the appearance and mechanisms of the brain, the five senses, the art and science of perception, language, reading, a field research day at the Pacific Science Center, and, finally, a "brain-drain" fair for display of student projects. Projects include the keeping of a mind or dream journal, a class literary magazine, and a class scholarly journal. Each unit is described in detail. Included in the curriculum materials are 19 handouts of information for teachers or for use in instruction. (RH)
