Occupational Information. A Career Guidance View.
Wolfbein, Seymour L.
This book deals not with the administrative or information searching processes related to the guidance function of providing occupational information, but with the substantive information itself. It presents a contemporary view of values, trends, and principles, derived primarily from statistical information describing the current world of work. In the first of two major parts, the author discusses "The People and Their World of Work", focusing on population patterns and trends, future manpower needs, the industrial scene, current occupational standings, and the relationships between life and work. The second part, "The Social and Economic Setting", focuses on workers and nonworkers, automation and education, migration and mobility, income and earnings, and unemployment and poverty. Suggested readings and references are given at the end of each chapter. (BP)
