Reviews two books, "Identity and Difference in Higher Education: Outsiders Within" (Pauline Anderson and Jenny Williams, Eds.) and "Gender, Teaching and Research in Higher Education: Challenges for the 21st Century" (Gillian Howie and Ashley Tauchert, Eds.). Both books explore a range of key issues faced by women in the academy and the role that feminist perspectives and practice can play in opening up the debate for change. (SM)
