The past few years have created decision-making problems for school managers dealing with asbestos hazards in the past, for failing to do so in the present, and for doing so improperly in the future. This book summarizes the available knowledge pertinent to the decisions that school administrators and others must make regarding asbestos in the coming months and years. Chapters cover the historical perspective surrounding asbestos, the legal matters created from asbestos exposure, the factual matters behind air contaminents including asbestos and its physical risks, the financial matters surrounding asbestos removal and sources of help, and the moral considerations. Appendices contain the House Report and Joint Explanatory Statement to the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986, a synopsis of Environmental Protection Agency Proposed Rules of April 1987.
