Analog Simulation of a Single Degree of Freedom System with Nonlinear Damping. COED Transactions, Vol. VIII, No. 6, June 1976.
Hirsch, Richard A.
A computer project in the area of equivalent viscous damping is described. The concept of equivalent viscous damping is applied to a single-degree-of-freedom system with velocity-squared damping. Comparison of the analytical results with an analog computer solution shows that the concept gives accurate results for the amplitude and phase of the steady state response over a 20 to 1 range of the damping parameter and a 12 to 1 range of excitation frequency.
