Mythology, Archaeology, Architecture. Learning Works Enrichment Series.
Sylvester, Diane; Wiemann, Mary
The activities in this book have been selected especially for gifted students in grades 4 through 8. They are designed to challenge and help students develop and apply higher-level thinking skills. The activities have been grouped by subject matter into mythology, archaeology, and architecture. The mythology section includes Chinese, Eskimo, Hispanic, Irish, Iroquois, Japanese, Norse, and Polynesian myths. The archaeology section provides activities to: (1) acquaint children with some of the archaeological discoveries made around the world; (2) make students aware of some of the scientific theories and procedures on which the field is based; and (3) help students develop observational and problem-solving skills needed by archaeologists. The architecture section gives children an opportunity to examine some of the ways in which animals and humans have met the fundamental need for shelter. (EH)
