The emphasis of this bibliographical guide is on Greek and Roman culture, history, language, literature, and archaeology. It largely omits philosophy, numismatics, and theology, and does not include the Middle Ages. The organization of the guide is by type of reference source. Specific subjects, therefore, may be covered in more than one section. Bibliographies devoted to works by and about individual authors, historians, and historical figures, have been excluded. The reference sources cited, in various languages, are all located in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library of McGill University (Montreal, Quebec, Canada).
