Save the Children Conference: Inclusion-Sharing a Vision of Learning for Schools, Parents and Young People 6th March 2007, Belfast, Northern Ireland
McGinnity, Aine
Child Care in Practice, v14 n1 p95-103 Jan 2008
In this article, the author presents a summary of a one-day conference organized by Save the Children. The conference aimed to offer a platform from which to identify key issues and barriers to inclusive practice within schools in Northern Ireland, and discussed methodologies to approach these issues through looking at best practice from Britain and Ireland. The event reflected the growing interest in promoting inclusion in education and brought together a range of professionals from Northern Ireland and the Republic. Delegates were asked to comment on the potential for inclusive practice within their work settings and Save the Children made a pledge to follow up on expressions of interest by developing 3-year training and support partnerships with up to 10 schools from September 2007.
