Collaborating to Create the Right Space for the Right Time
McKinstry, Jill
Resource Sharing & Information Networks, v17 n1-2 p137-146 2004
From classroom, to study space, to collaborative work or laboratories, students seek spatial, social, and intellectual connections, and most importantly, they seek the right space at the right time. The challenge for libraries is to provide different types of integrated spaces that balance the need to reflect and to absorb with the need to communicate and to create. The Odegaard Undergraduate Library at the University of Washington is enhancing the 32-year-old vision for collaborative spaces of learning to set the right balance between contemplative and group space and 24-hour access to the latest tools and technology.
