ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, University of Phoenix
The purpose of this case study was to gather current teacher and administrator perceptions on leadership in a school environment. The study sought to identify patterns of leadership style as elements in building a school climate that focused on performance and intrinsic rewards. The study also sought to establish an understanding of how leadership styles could support a climate that is conducive to student achievement. The design was a case study. Data were collected through open and ended semi-structured interviews. The current study indicated that Administrators' positive leadership styles can support a climate that is conducive to student achievement. The knowledge gained from this study points to some leadership characteristics and actions that administrators can adopt that include respect, resolving conflicts, positive role modeling, caring, and being an effective mentor to others.
