Teaching Clothing and Textiles: An Appraisal by Students in Tertiary Institutions in Delta State Nigeria

The purpose of this research is to find out how students appraise the teaching of Clothing and Textiles in Tertiary Institutions in Delta State, Nigeria. To do this two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to give direction to the study. The target population consisted of 660 Home Economics Students enrolled in Home Economics in tertiary institutions. A random sampling techniques was adopted to select the subject for the study, the sample size was 30% (198) of the target population. This study adopted an ex post-facto research design. A structured questionnaire titled (HESAIQ) was the instrument used for data collection. 157 out of the 198 questionnaires were useable and the data collected were analysed using simple means, standard deviations and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) Finding revealed that students appraised the teaching of Clothing and Textiles favourably, and that the academic level of students had effect on their appraisal, as students at 400 level appraised the teaching of Clothing and Textile highest with a mean [similar to] of 89.51. Finding also revealed that the school a student is enrolled in had effect on the appraisal of teaching instruction. Based on the findings recommendation were made. (Contains 4 tables.)
