Application of the Transtheoretical Model to Exercise Behavior among Nontraditional College Students.
Wallace, Lorraine Silver; Buckworth, Janet
American Journal of Health Education, v32 n1 p39-47 Jan-Feb 2001
Examined the applicability of the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) to understanding exercise among nontraditional college students. Over half were in the precontemplation, contemplation, or preparation stages (sedentary or irregular exercisers), and 17 percent were in the action stage (regular exercisers). All TTM constructs differed significantly across exercise stages. Results support use of the TTM to examine exercise behavior in this group. (SM)
