Self-Adjusting Teaching Machines.
Dovgyallo, A. M.
A study was made on the synthesis of teaching machine elements to ensure the stabilization of the chi indicator of the teaching process of each student. At first, a procedure was developed for calculating the chi indicator for the case when the teaching machine predicts the magnitude of this indicator based on probabilities derived from an equation described in an earlier report. Three possible variations were studied: (1) the chi indicator is calculated by a predicting teaching machine by the results obtained in one part of the curriculum covered by a group of students (who have already completed the program) with a history of training identical to that of a given student; (2) the chi indicator is calculated, taking into account the averaged effect of the method of explanation, but not the separate sections of the text material; and (3) the chi indicator is calculated by using a standard stochastic automatic device for which the number of methods for presenting the material is assumed. The problem of synthesis of such an automatic device was formulated. A bibliography is appended. (Author/JY)
