The Relationship between Self-Appraisal Variables and the College Grade Performance and Persistence of Black Freshmen.
Trippi, Joseph; Stewart, James B.
Journal of College Student Development, v30 n6 p484-91 Nov 1989
Assessed relationship of academic self-appraisal variables to Black students' college grade performance and persistence. Findings from 415 Black college freshmen revealed that expectations regarding grade performance and concerns about specific learning skills were related to college grade performance and persistence, supporting usefulness of noncognitive variables for predicting Black college students' grade performance and persistence.
