Disruptive and Inattentive-Withdrawn Behavior and Achievement among Fourth Graders.
Finn, Jeremy D.; And Others
Elementary School Journal, v95 n5 p421-34 May 1995
Examined the relationship between teachers' ratings of classroom behavior and fourth graders' achievement. Inattentive-withdrawn and disruptive students were identified. Found that inattentive-withdrawn behavior was associated with depressed academic performance at least as much as disruptive behavior. Results suggest that teachers attend more to disruptive students, overlooking inattentive-withdrawn students, although nonparticipation in class may have profound effects. (TM)
