Targeted at all professionals working in the area of child health, this book aims to consolidate information and place it within the theoretical frame of "community child health." Part 1 focuses on the community and the changes within it which have resulted in macro- and microenvironmental influences on child health outcomes. It also details the trends in the health status of American children. Part 2 explores the contributions health personnel can make in collaboration with other childhelping professionals in community service domains such as schools, special education, programs for children at social risk, and group care programs. To aid any and all child health providers in implementing community-based work, techniques and tools are presented for each domain. Going beyond the individual programming suggestions offered in part two, the last part discusses a larger plan for meeting the needs of children and their families.
