The Foreign Language Teacher's Suggestopedic Manual.
Lozanov, Georgi; Gateva, Evalina
The guide, translated from Bulgarian, is designed for foreign language teachers using the suggestopedic method to teach adults or children. The text is divided into two parts. The first discusses suggestopedic language courses for adults, beginning with application and enrollment and including testing, instructions to the student, detailed methodological instructions for musical sessions and subsequent class activities, and recommendations for making further progress in the foreign language after the first series of lessons. Eight sample lessons are described, accompanied by song scores and other illustrations in a variety of languages. The second part of the guide addresses similar issues in the instruction of children but does so through the use of two global themes in the first year of instruction instead of a series of discrete lessons. Again, methodological procedures are given for instruction beyond the first year. Appended materials include model songs for suggestopedic teaching and learning, an index, and an Italian textbook designed for use with the suggestopedic method. (MSE)
